Adherence to Tuberculosis (TB) treatment or other long lasting treatments is a key success parameter with significant impact in the avoidance of drug resistance and patient relapses. A supervisory system may be very useful in cases where compliance to drug-clinical trials is questionable or abuse is very likely.

AD4AD is aiming to design a system capable of controlling and supporting patients´ adherence to long-lasting treatments. It consists of three main lines of technological R+D:

  • Development of an intelligent blister.
  • Design of a micro-nano pill-marker fitting the technological standards of Radiofrequency Identification (RFID).
  • Design and prototyping of a communication and data management system for handling the interaction among the monitoring devices, remote databases and users.
